The mountains are almost upon us!

We’ve had a great ride today, an easy 75k with a bit of up and down but nothing too hard on the legs. It’s felt great being back on the bike and we’re both getting quite excited about doing the pass in the next couple of days. All the signs we’ve seen today have said the St Gotthard is open so although we know it will be freezing (quite literally!) we’re hopeful we’ll be able to make it over. The attached picture is our route profile for the next two days… About 35k of up before 70k of down!

Tonight we’re in Fluelen in a lovely lakeside campsite with wonderful views of the mountains. Tomorrow we get to Andermatt and then it’s up and over the last bit on Monday.

We’ve realised we’ve been spending a fair but on data roaming while we’ve been away so have decided to only blog every other day. Hopefully the next time we blog we’ll be in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland!
