Our high-tech navigation system

image

We toyed with GPS for our trip, but realised that rather than pinpoint positioning and aHome Counties lady barking “turn left!” we need a flexible ‘where shall we go this week?’ type tool, since our daily destinations aren’t fixed. We may use our phones for the odd peek at Gmaps, though data is pricey outside the UK. A trip to Stanfords netted us these lovely maps from kummerley + frey. 5 maps take us all the way to Istanbul, at the scale of 1:800,000.

For those of you plotting our progress on a wall map (we know of at least one of you!) We will try to include location info in posts.

Current location: a very empty narrowboat

Thanks to Mary for the elastic which keeps our map library together!
