The wheels are turning…

John’s handed in notice at work now, so has a firm last date which means we can fix a day to set off on our cycle. We’ve also just accepted an offer on Jessie, a huge step towards making it all happen. We need to arrange a survey and so on, but hopefully the sale will go through in a few weeks’ time.

And we have a new dynohub for our front wheel, which means our lights should be brighter without all the faff and friction of the old bottle dynamo. And even more exciting, we can keep phones and various gadgets charged as we cycle along. So no excuse for not blogging! We have also begun a draft of our very long packlist – so many things to remember…

The other missing piece in the great charging plan is a converter to take dynohub voltage and change it into phone-friendly 5v output. There is a rather pricey charger currently available, but at over £220 plus battery, it’s not really appealing! Much more attractive is the Dahon BioLogic ReeCharge, but this little beauty might not be available in time! [Update: we went for the more affordable Reecharge, but it won’t arrive until two days after we leave… so we’re getting it posted out to us on the road somewhere].
